I was the multimedia committee for Taaruf Week April 2005/2006 intake.
Here's among the best pictures taken during the whole 2 weeks of preparation and Taaruf week itself.

For your information, Taaruf Week is equavalent to new students' orientation week.

As a multimedia committee, I did most of the name tags, multimedia flash presentation of introducing committees and others.

Exploring panning technique

Dynamic - I'm walking
Dynamic - White Kancil at 1/15 shutter speed
MRR2 - Static at 5 seconds shutter speed
Based on what I know, panning techniques is like taking pictures with panned images. Okay, here's my example. I'm not very good because its my first time taking these kind of images. We can call it motion picture.. (is it?) What ever it is, its based on the shutter speed. This time, I also experienced Nikon D70

With normal point-n-shoot digital cameras, if you turn off the flash, you might ended up taking blurry picture. Why? because the camera needs more light and the shutter speed was reduced.

As far as I concern, there are 2 techniques. Dynamic and static. Hehe.. its my own definition.

1. Dynamic
- the objective is to get a motion blurred background picture but the subject looks static
- take picture during daylight
- for SLR, set the shutter speed below 1/30. 1/10 will do.
- for digital, turn off the flash
- identify your subject e.g. a moving car on the road
- move your camera while holding the 'capture' button
- refer to the diagram below

Here's one of my successful shots.

2. Static
- take picture during night
- if you have tripod, its better
- otherwise just hold your camera for quite some time without any movement
- set the shutter speed to 5 or 10 seconds
- try to get pictures from a tall building or structure
- press and hold capture button for 5 or 10 seconds
- you'll get the pictures of cars front and rear lights as it was dragged along the road
- oops.. I didn't try point-n-shoot digicams yet for this technique. maybe by switching to 'nightmode' will do this trick a bit..

This was taken at MRR2. Can you tell where am I taking this picture?

Practice makes perfect
Try it. Its fun!

URP stands for Urban & Regional Planning. But I'm not URP. I'm AAD student. But what the heck I was in their dinner?

My experimental band was invited as one of the performers. Its the first time for Art-@-Rasta to perform live since our breakthrough last semester. But I've taken more videos than pictures.

The pictures also not quite good because I'm using the Sony Handycam for the still images.

Eid Adha - Qurban and slaughtering sacrifices

Slaughtering

Here's some information about slaughtering session at Masjid Al-Ansar, Taman Keramat.

Its my first time capturing picture for this moment and there's also one guy that have the same interest as mine.. but he brought his digital SLR.. owh.. mine just point and shoot 3MP.. Hehe

I interested in the system that have been applied by the mosque in order to smoothen this session. They have their own structure.. its hard to describe. Let the visual guide you to it..

1. Cows.
All the cows will be placed here first. The blue curtain is to block their view, because they will unstable when looking at their friends being slaughtered by man.

2. Cage.
Next, one cow will be drag into a cage. They will tie the cow's leg and take it down. Its gonna take some time because the cow is usually restless. Once they have tie all the legs, they will drag the cow and place the head near to the pit.

3. Blood pit.
This is interesting because they have constructed this pit and the four of them is connected underground in a sewer. Hehe.. is it? But its easy for the cleaning purpose.

After the cow have totally dead, they will cut the meat into pieces and transfer to the mosque with a lorry. This structure is on the hillside and the mosque just 50 metres below..
